COOKING MATTERS SATELLITE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
Indy Hunger Network became a satellite partner in order to allow Cooking Matters to expand our program to the counties surrounding Marion County. Becoming a Satellite Partner with Indy Hunger Network will allow our partners to offer programming without the barriers of becoming a partner of Cooking Matters national. Benefits of becoming a Satellite Partner of IHN will help sites decrease the burdens of data reporting and management, ordering materials, and resource management. Our Satellite Partners will also receive hands-on training with Indy Hunger Network staff to help equip them with all the tools needed in order to implement successful programming in their communities.

WHAT DOES IHN PROVIDE FOR MY ORGANIZATION WHEN I BECOME A SATELLITE PARTNER?
The Satellite Partnership Program through Indy Hunger Network allows potential partners interested in offering Cooking Matters programming the ability do so by decreasing barriers of staffing or financial constraints at their site location. Partners will work alongside the IHN team to train volunteers, staff, and team members from your organization to lead and implement Cooking Matters programming at you site. Once all training is complete, you will be able to lead and implement programming in your community with your own staff and team members. IHN will provide the following resources:
- Program implementation documents (sign up sheets, flyers, participant books, surveys, enrollment forms, incentive checklists).
- Program implementation equipment and supplies: each partner will receive a mobile kitchen stocked with all items needed to conduct classes (cooking utensils, gloves, paper silverware, first aid kits, cooking oil, and extension cords, and electric skillet).
- Hands-on training with Indy Hunger Network staff to train any community members and staff that will work alongside the program at your site. Training is in-person at your site for up to 10 hours.
- Your team will have around the clock access to the IHN team for support and guidance.
- A program administration guide will be provided to all sites to guide sites through implementation after training is complete.
- A check-in will be conducted with each partner and IHN staff on a monthly basis.
- IHN staff will manage all data management and entry for your site’s program.
- IHN will offer small grants to our satellite partner sites to help offset the costs associated with food and incentives. Partners will be informed when funds are available.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF MY ORGANIZATION TO BECOME A SATELLITE PARTNER?
- Space to offer programming that has access to hot running water and a sink for dishes/handwashing, electricity, 8-foot tables, and at least 12 chairs.
- All Satellite Partners must have a dedicated community member, staff member, or volunteer to be assigned for all communication with IHN Staff
- Provide the food for program implementation. IHN will provide each site with a step-by-step process on the most efficient way to order food, a budget template for sites to see what financial commitment will look like, and financial support for partners to offset the cost of food for programming.
- Provide any program incentives you wish to provide your participants (Contact IHN for info on what incentives we currently offer and what has worked best for our families).
- You must stay in frequent contact with IHN staff to provide program updates.
Cooking Matters can be a Satellite Partner to any county in Indiana.
