


Our 2020 Grant Program for Food Pantries was made possible by generous support from Corteva Agriscience and the Marion County Public Health Department, through the CDC’s Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health program. The IHN Grants Committee awarded small grants to food pantries in Marion County for projects that would increase capacity, improve operations, and implement best practices. Thanks to additional funding from the City of Indianapolis, IHN awarded a second round of grants in late 2020 specifically for projects focused on meeting the increased food need due to COVID-19.
In total, the 2020 Grant Program distributed $114,203 to 37 local food pantries. Our grant recipients are featured below.
Boulevard Place Food Pantry
Award amount: $3000
Funds will be used for an electric pallet jack to increase the pantry’s ability to handle large quantities of food.
Christ United Methodist Church
Award amount: $3200
Funds will be used to replace non-functioning cold storage units in order to store fresh and frozen foods.
Community Outreach Ministry Eastside
Award amount: $2785
Funds will be used for cold storage, shelving units, and a computer to increase the number of clients served.
Crooked Creek Food Pantry

Funds will be used for cards and an intercom system to increase the efficiency of drive-through pantry.
Damien Center Food Pantry

Funds will be used for equipment to streamline the client intake process and improve the client experience.
Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center

Funds will be used to advertise the pantry and streamline client intake.
First Baptist Church Food Pantry
Award amount: $3500
Funds will enable the pantry to serve more people by being open more frequently, increasing food storage space, and moving into a more permanent space.
God's Bounty Food Pantry

Funds will be used for a refrigerator and freezer, which will improve the pantry’s ability to distribute healthy foods, decrease client wait times, and ensure food safety.
